I moved to Plano, TX in 2019 then became a patient of Dr. Kutz shortly after. I have a history of degenerative disc disease which was identified in 2014. I’ve been through numerous lumbar fusions since then, but still experienced a lot of discomfort. I went to Dr. Kutz hoping to find a neurosurgeon who could advise and determine what might help. Dr. Kutz would not rest until he found a plausible alternative that would help diminish as much of my discomfort as possible. He accomplished his mission! Today, while still recovering, this is the least amount of discomfort I’ve experienced since 2014.
Dr. Kutz is truly at the top of the list among the “BEST” doctors in my opinion. He embodies a blend of emotional intelligence, clinical expertise and ethical conduct. He’s empathetic by listening without judgement. When I’ve had discussions with him he makes me feel like I’m his sole patient, while being considerate of his other patients who are waiting.
If you are looking for a first class Neurosurgeon, please see Dr. Kutz. You will be as thankful as I am.

My lumbar Spondylolisthesis has become problematic, and surgery may be needed. I had probably discussed this problem with 4-6 surgeons in the past. My appointment with Dr. Kutz had convinced me that if I do proceed with surgery, Dr. Kutz has the patient as his primary concern, and I would definitely be confident of the best of outcomes.

Dr. Kutz is amazing! At my initial appointment, he walked me through the results of my imaging and was patient as I decided on a date for surgery. He was clear yet compassionate when discussing the costs and benefits of the procedure. His bedside manner was superb! After my procedure, he came to my room to check on me and my progress personally. I would highly recommend Dr. Kutz!

My experience with Dr. Kutz was terrific. He took the time to explain each of my surgeries and made sure I fully understood the procedure and what to expect during and after my surgeries. He has a terrific bedside manner and truly seems to care about his patients.

I saw Dr Kutz in 2019 for pain and numbness in my left arm which turned out to be caused by herniated discs in my neck at C5/6 and C6/7. Dr. Kutz came highly recommended by a neighbor who works in the neurosurgery industry and knows a lot of the local neurosurgeons. Dr. Kutz didn't rush to a surgical diagnosis and sent me for cortisone injections and physical therapy 1st - which was comforting as you read about a lot of surgery happy doctors that want you under the knife immediately. When the alternative treatments didn't work, Dr. Kutz offered to replace the discs with artificial ones. I spent a lot of time delaying my decision to research the surgery and the products he recommended and eventually went forward with the surgery when my symptoms became unbearable. Man am I glad I did! From the moment I woke from surgery, my symptoms were gone! It's been about 5 months since surgery and I feel great. Dr. Kutz was patient with my questions and took as much time as I needed during the consultations. Never did I feel rushed or pressured. He was friendly and engaging throughout the entire process and I'd recommend anyone see him if they're having spinal issues.

I’ve had what feels like a knife stuck in my low back for literally decades, until now. I was determined to resist back surgery at all costs, but after a few dozen procedures (injections, rhizotomies) and physical therapy sessions in every city I’ve ever lived in, I began scheduling visits to back surgeons. Even after four surgeons recommended fusion on my low back, surgery still wasn’t a path I was ready for. Then I was referred to Dr. Scott Kutz. I knew after the consultation visit that I was going to take the plunge into back surgery with Dr. Kutz. I only wish I had discovered him a few herniated discs ago! That’s how much pain I was in and how much relief I got from Dr. Kutz’s surgery. His demeanor is nothing like most of the doctors and surgeons I’ve been to. Dr. Kutz doesn’t rush me through any of my visits. He is as thorough and detailed as you want him to be, and his explanations are understandable to a non-medical person. He patiently allows me to ask my many prepared and spontaneous questions. His attitude is genuinely pleasant and respectful. His “vibe” is friendly and open, not patronizing (none of that “I’m-a-doctor-you’re-not” attitude). It’s not that I just got lucky with my surgery. I did, in fact, experience nerve pain afterward (a sometimes byproduct of surgery). Dr. Kutz’s fabulous nurse, Julie, was immediately responsive to me on the phone each time I called her with comments and questions. And Dr. Kutz – post-op – was just as attentive as he was pre-op, offering explanations and a solution that rectified the nerve pain. I TRUST Dr. Kutz. I will continue recommending him to anyone needlessly suffering with back pain. Dr. Kutz is a ROCK STAR!

Dr. Kutz may well have saved my life. I was in terrible pain from my lower back, and had shooting electrical pain down both legs, and severe numbness in my left leg. I also had numbness in my buttocks and had bladder and bowel incontinence. I was unable to walk upright, and could only leave the house in a wheelchair. My life was becoming unbearable, and I had no hope for the future.
Then I met Dr. Kutz. The moment he walked in, I knew I was in the right place. He seems to carry with him a bubble of warmth, confidence, and caring that envelopes you as soon as you get in his orbit. He has none of that arrogance and hubris that some other doctors seems to develop. He was very careful not to embarrass me, and was very gentle with my exam. I had a CT scan, as I had had multiple MRIs, and the imaging showed I really needed surgery. I had surgery nine years previously, and was in worse shape than before that. I was afraid until Dr. Kutz said he knew he could help me. I am about seven weeks post surgery, and all that terrible spinal and nerve pain is gone, and I have control of my body again.
He is a wonderful surgeon, and a very caring person. I can’t say enough about this man, he is the real deal.

Dr. Kutz is AMAZING!!! Had a surgery with him several years ago and have not had any problems! I highly recommend Dr. Kutz to anyone who is needing back surgery.
Best Doctor In The World!
Dr. Kutz performed a microdiscectomy/laminotomy on me to help with severe back and sciatic nerve pain in my left buttock and leg as well as numbness in my hamstring, shin, and foot. I am 2 days post surgery and the nerve pain is completely gone and most of the numbness is no longer there! Ive been in so much pain in the last few months and i am very grateful for Dr Kutz. Every consultation we had with him was never rushed. His staff were all extremely professional and very proactive and efficient in getting me in for appointments and scheduling the procedure with Texas Back Institute. Dr. Kutz answered all of mine and my wife’s questions and showed confidence and compassion throughout the entire process. He checked on my family multiple times after my surgery while is was in recovery. It is very obvious that loves what he does and is driven to help others. I highly recommend Dr. Kutz if you are having symptoms similar to mine.
WOW! Dr Kutz is phenomenal. Both my wife and I saw him last week at the Frisco location. We both have back pain . My wife’s lower back pain was so severe we went twice to the emergency room Then we saw another doctor. He really could not pinpoint the pain. Dr Kutz did and scheduled her an injection. In my case, he prescribed a medication for ongoing thigh numbness. The staff and office environment are also great.
Dr Kutz is one of those doctors that immediately makes you feel relaxed and comfortable, even though the reason that you went to see him is painful. He takes his time to get to know you and to examine you. Even though it was my first time meeting him I’m were talking about a serious operations, I already trust him completely.
